Dieting is the practice of ingesting food in a regulated fashion to achieve a particular objective. In many cases the goal is weight loss, but some athletes aspire to gain weight (usually in the form of muscle) and diets can also be used to maintain a stable body weight.
Atkins average diet loss weight

The high-protein Atkins diet scores the most as far as weight loss is concerned, says a study from Stanford University School of Medicine. The study compared the Atkins with three others Zone, Ornish and the LEARN diet. After a year, those on Atkins lost an average of 10.4 pounds – compared with 5.7 pounds on LEARN, 4.8 on Ornish and 3.5 on Zone.
