In the Pennsylvania Dutch region it is not served in a pie form at all. But more of a stew form. It usually a combination of chicken or ham or beef, noodles (from scratch, and they're a noodle made of a basic pie crust recipie), potatos, and a healthy stock of an onion and celery and parsley. My fave from when I was a kid is Chicken Pot Pie. You can get the recipe from the Campbell's website. You only need condensed chicken soup, chicken and whatever vegies you can make your kids eat (peas, carrots, onion, beans...) & frozen pastry. So easy but soooo good, yum!
