A buzzard is one of several large birds, but there are a number of meanings as detailed below.

BUZZARDS BAY - They started arriving at dawn, taking pictures, reminiscing, and standing in stunned silence. By midmorning, traffic had backed up for a mile in each direction as drivers tried to glimpse the charred heap that had been the Mezza Luna restaurant.

The Photo is the Pulitzer Prize winning photo from 1994 during the Sudan famine. The picture depicts a famine stricken child crawling towards a UN food camp. The buzzard is waiting for the child to die so he can eat. The photo was taken by Kevin Carter who committed suicide 3 months later. No one knows what happened to the child.
