Celts lived in Ancient Galatia, in the central Anatolia in modern Turkey. Galatia was named for the immigrant Gauls from Thrace, who became its ruling caste in the 3rd century BC. The modern capital of Turkey, Ankara (ancient Ancyra), was also the capital of ancient Galatia. We went and pictured the ruins of Celtic cities around Ankara.
Thanks to the amazing discovery of a mass gladiator grave in Ephesus, Turkey; forensic anthropologists Dr Fabian Kanz and Professor Karl Grossschmidt have been able to piece together a detailed picture of how Gladiators lived, fought and died.
