American Electric Power Company Inc.'s Michigan nuclear unit is getting more than $70 million in capital improvements while it undergoes a routine refueling. The Columbus-based company said one of its two Cook Nuclear Plant units went down Sept. 15 to begin a refueling outage, a necessity for a nuclear reactor every 18 months.
A 35-year-old Michigan man has died while running the Chicago Marathon in high temperatures, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Another 250 people were taken to hospitals because of heat-related ailments.
