On December 11 the Food Network will pull the plug on "Emeril Live!" one of its longest-running cooking shows, and will be going off air.Both the Food Network and the New Orleans power cook say their relationship hasn't soured. The writing seemed to be on the kitchen walls when the Food Network recently moved Emeril Live!, the network's once flagship show, to 7PM from its 8PM slot, and, as reported earlier this week, they've officially pulled the plug on...

The celebrity chef’s “Emeril Live,” which has been on the air for 10 years, will cease production Dec. 11, Food Network publicist Carrie Welch told The Associated Press. “However, Emeril is under contract with Food Network,” Welch said Tuesday. “We love him, we support him and look forward to a long partnership with him.”

Emeril Live is a program on Food Network hosted by Emeril Lagasse.Emeril Live features many of the same elements as Emeril's other program, Essence of Emeril, and often has a Creole theme. The program is taped in front of a live audience in New York and features music played by Doc Gibbs and the Emeril Live Band. In late 2004, the program moved to Chelsea Market.Emeril Live began production in 1997, and won a CableACE Award for "Best Informational Show" later that year. The program features a wide variety of cuisine from cajun to stir-fry and often features well-known chefs as guests who cook alongside Emeril. Some of the celebrities that have appeared on the program include Charlie Daniels, Patti LaBelle, Michael McDonald, Joe Perry, Sammy Hagar, Aretha Franklin, Patton Oswalt, and Jimmy Buffett.Emeril sometimes lets the audience taste the food that he prepares. He is known for his use of catch phrases, such as "Pork fat rules", "Kick it up a notch", "Oh, yeah babe", and "Bam!", which he uses when adding seasoning to food that he is preparing.On November 27, 2007, the Food Network revealed it would halt production on the program December 11, 2007.
