A "Happy Meal" is a meal specially tailored for children, sold at the fast-food chain McDonald's since June 1979. A toy is typically included with the food, both of which are usually contained in a small box or paper bag with the McDonald's logo.

The commercialization of educational culture, particularly in elementary schools, has long been a contentious issue. It has become more clamorous in the last decade as hard-pressed school districts seek to raise money for academic programs, sports and extracurricular activities without raising taxes.

Everyone remembers how excited they were to get a McDonald’s Happy Meal when they were kids, and Nintendo is once again joining in the fun with a new Nintendo-themed “active toy” Happy Meals.
