TiVo won a key victory in its legal battle to reclaim the DVR technology it pioneered after a federal appeals court affirmed that EchoStar and Dish Network have been illegally using the software.
Dish Networks have lost it's appeal of infringing against TiVo's software patent. The injunction that ordered Dish to stop providing DVR service that had been held while the case was under appeal will now been reinstated once the appeal is finalized. Basically Dish will be pay license fees to TiVo or shut down their DVR service.
This could be bad news for Dish Network. Why can't Tivo just change their business to selling the technology and and software and make money the American way. O ya, suing to make money is the American way. My bad....
