Okay, this time you're serious. You're going on a regimen that will really improve your health -- not like that crash diet: You'll snarf down antioxidants; exercise moderately but consistently; balance fats, proteins, and carbs; and pay attention to the way you explain whatever happens to you.

Gluten-free, casein-free diet information including lists of foods containing gluten and casein, alternative foods, why these food proteins can be a problem and the use of a diet free from them in autism, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other conditions.

ne of the major frustrations of people who are on a wheat free diet for medical reasons, is when they are confused with being a Celiac. Celiac Disease is caused by having a reaction to gluten, a protein found in wheat. But it is not the reaction to the wheat itself which causes the problem.

Purpose: This diet is designed to provide adequate nutrition while eliminating foods that contain gliadin, which is the alcohol-soluble extract of gluten, a protein found in barley, oats, rye, wheat, and wheat derivatives.

Gluten is wheat gum, the insoluble component of grains (such as wheat, barley, and rye). It is a mixture of gliadin, glutenin, and other proteins. Gluten causes allergy-like reactions in certain people. While a gluten-free diet is the primary therapeutic treatment for celiac disease, this diet may also help a host of other conditions...

Free protein diet

A high protein diet is often recommended by bodybuilders and nutritionists to help efforts to build muscle and lose fat. It should not be confused with low-carb diets such as the Atkins Diet, which are not calorie-controlled and which often contain large amounts of fat. While adequate protein is required for building skeletal muscle and various other tissues, there is ongoing debate regarding the use and necessity of high protein diets in weight training and bodybuilding. Various sources advise people to consume anywhere from 0.6 to 1.5g of protein per pound of bodyweight per day (1.4–3.3g per kg) . However, many medical professionals believe that consuming more protein than the Recommended Dietary Allowance provides no benefits, and that the excess is merely burnt for energy or excreted. HazardsRelatively little evidence has been gathered regarding the effect of protein on the development of chronic diseases and more research is needed to better understand protein's role in bone health. While there was initial suspicion that high protein diets increased the risk for renal failure, studies have shown that kidney problems occur only in people with pre-existing kidney disease . (Still, it should be noted that such problems may become apparent only when the stress of extra protein is applied to the kidneys.) Similarly, the long-held concern that it could worsen hepatic encephalopathy (brain disease due to malfunction of the liver) appears to be ungrounded. The increased load on the kidney is a result of an increase in reabsorption of NaCl. This causes a decrease the sensitivity of tubuloglomerular feedback, which, in turn, results in an increased glomerular filtration rate. This increases pressure in glomerular capillaries. When added to any additional renal disease, this may cause permanent glomerular damage. OligospermiaA high protein diet is sometimes used as a treatment of oligospermia in lack of anything better.. However, there is no proven effect.
